How to Find Articles
GALILEO
GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online) offers a large collection of databases to help you find articles and other data. GALILEO provides tabs that guide you to database lists that cover specific subjects. After selecting a database, you can search for a topic to find articles that have been published in magazines and journals.
Passwords
Off-campus and some on-campus users will be prompted for a GALILEO password. If you do not know the password, provide your last name and NGCSU student number
here and the password will be provided. You may also be asked for your Novell login, which is the same as your NGCSU student email minus @ngcsu.edu.
Journals A-Z
For times when you have a citation without a full-text article, use the Journals A-Z index to see if the library has the article in another database. You may need to search the recommended database in order to see the needed article.
The Library Catalog
If Journals A-Z has not helped produce the older article you need, search for the journal title in the library catalog. The journal may be available in the bound periodical section of the library.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
For an article that you need, but is not available in full-text in any of the above sources, the interlibrary loan service can help. Go to the
interlibrary loan online page, sign-in with your Novell login, select article request, and provide the complete citation and your contact information. The library staff will find a library that will send the article to us.
This is a free service to NGCSU students, faculty, and staff. Every attempt is made to provide a speedy delivery, but please submit your request at least 10 days before your deadline.
Scholarly vs. Popular Articles
Many databases provide a way to limit your search to scholarly or peer-reviewed journals. This
information sheet provides the criteria for determining whether an article is scholarly or not.
